By combining the videoXtens transverse
strain extensometer with the Macro
extensometer, Zwick has produced
an optical/contact strain-measurement
system for the metal and auto-motive
industries.
Both extensometers deliver extremely
high accuracy within their class and
provide excellent reliability.
The optical measuring system can
be used for specimens with very small
gauge lengths (from 15mm). videoXtens’
non-contact, high-resolution measure-
ment allows determination of r-values
to ISO 10113 and requires no speci-
men markings – a sophisticated edge
identification algorithm is employed.
The non-contact measurement principle
eliminates contact forces in the
transverse direction, allowing thin and/
or sensitive specimens to be tested.
TheMacrohigh-resolutionextensometer
records strain in both elastic and plastic
ranges during the entire tensile test up
to specimen break.
The system is designed to be easy to set
up and operate, while high durability
and low wear make it suitable for
integration into robotic testing units.
