Pipe couplings selected
for ‘The Walkie Talkie’
Fitzpatick Mechanical Services has
completed the shell and core drainage
package at the 20 Fenchurch Street
development in London, UK. In a
contract worth £1mn, Fitzpatrick has
completed the package on budget and
ahead of schedule.
Designed by world-renowned architect
Rafael Viñoly, 20 Fenchurch Street is
visually distinctive, and designed for
maximum efficiency with a density for
all services of one person per 8m
2
.
Developed by a joint venture partnership
between two of the UK’s leading
property companies, Canary Wharf
Group and Land Securities Group plc,
20 Fenchurch Street provides 690,000ft
2
of offices with panoramic views of
London.
The project aims for a BREEAM
environmental rating of ‘excellent’,
which will place it among the greenest
office buildings in the City of London.
As part of the drainage package,
Fitzpatrick Mechanical Services
selected Teekay pipe couplings for key
connections on cast iron, galvanised
steel and copper pipework. This
involved joining pipework of different
pipe OD sizes. The Teekay stepped pipe
coupling was selected for its reliability
and reputation within the industry.
Teekay supplied couplings and flange
adaptors that were made bespoke for
the project.

Fitzpatrick Mechanical Services,

complete this package. As a provider
of installation services we rely on the
performance of our supply chain. The
flexible supply approach adopted by
Teekay has seen bespoke fittings from
their factory in Milton Keynes arriving to
site on a just-in-time basis and this has
been of great benefit to the project.”
