USM
6G52
Italy
USM, based in Italy, is a leading
company in the market of consumables
for steel tube and related service centres
and machine making companies. It aims
to offer the entire range of consumables
used in steel tube production. It also
offers a free consultancy service
for problem solving or new project
development.
USM directly co operates with
customers during the development of
new products, materials and qualities
to keep a step ahead. During the last
30 years of activity it has introduced
its products in Italy, across Europe and
worldwide.
Some of the projects include: TDK
Japan dedicated ferrite cores for high
frequency welding of steel tubes;
mechanical fixing style carbide inserts
for outside scarfing of welded tubes;
mechanical fixing style ceramic inserts
for outside scarfing of welded tubes;
HSS circular saw blades and titanium
coating for tube cutting off; Si3N4
ceramic made welding rolls; internal
scarfing tools systems, both mechanical
and hydraulic; and a new generation of
ferrite cores of large diameter for HF
welding.
At Tube 2014 in Germany USM will
present a new generation of internal
scarfing tools.
The company has developed similar
systems over the past 50 years but
has now improved it by using the latest
technologies, resulting in a simple and
reliable tool system that is also cost
effective.

WAFIOS AG

Germany
WAFIOS will present its new RBV
42 R CNC tube bending machine in
Düsseldorf, together with the machine’s
bigger brother, the RBV 60 R, which was
presented in 2013. The series couples
power with innovative technology and
new ergonomic design.
The RBV machines are versatile tube
bending machines for the production
of 2D and 3D parts with more flexibility
in the production of parts and higher
repeat accuracy. The company states
that the new, more robust design of the
machines allows significant process
improvements to be achieved.
More performance, despite increased
energy efficiency, is ensured by the use
of the most modern control and drive
technology from the robot industry. High
service and operating convenience
increase the machines’ availability.

The exhibition programme will be
completed by the BMU 50 R bending
machine, which will be exhibited for the
first time as a machine for bending tube
from the coil.

Yamazaki Mazak

Germany
YAMAZAKI Mazak will highlight the
benefits of the 3D Fabri Gear Mk II at
Tube Düsseldorf 2014. The 3D Fabri
Gear series was developed for high-
precision 3D laser cutting of complex or
angled configurations of long pipe and
structural materials. The laser cutter is
equipped with a 3D torch that enables
movement on five different axes,
allowing the machine to cut both closed
and open profiles.
The 3D torch delivers accuracy by
cutting vertically to ensure that the
metal tubes sit flush against each other
with no gaps. This reduces the need for
jigs to hold the cut metal in place prior
to welding and reduces the amount of
weld material, offering the benefit of
faster weld times and greater strength
from the weld. Mazak estimates that
tube cut with the 3D Fabri Gear can be
welded and assembled twice as fast as
conventionally cut tube.
The machine on the Mazak Tube
stand will be the 2.5kW version, which
is capable of cutting a pipe length of
8m. The laser cutter is designed for
the automated cutting of any shaped
material, from round to square,
rectangular, triangular and structural
profiles. It is equipped with a four-
chuck system that prevents vibration
and ensures accurate cutting. An auto-
centring clamp enables fast set-up, with
no change in set-up from square to
circular or triangular tube.
The 3D Fabri Gear offers a ‘done-
in-one’ solution with a tapping unit that
can help generate significant reductions
in process time by tapping in the same
machine set-up as laser cutting.
The 3D Fabri Gear is suitable for
cutting long and heavy tube used in the
construction industry, such as building
structures, heating and ventilation
systems, along with machinery
applications including cranes and
agricultural machinery. It has been used
in a number of prestigious construction
projects, including the Yas Marina
Formula One circuit in Abu Dhabi, the
national football stadium in Gdansk,
Poland, and the Tokyo Sky Tree, which
is the world’s tallest broadcast tower.
