Conclusions for Breast Cancer Incidence

Female breast cancer incidence rates have been
increasing in recent years in most countries
•
Some of this increase might be avoided in the future by
changes in lifestyle
•
But some of the increase is due to formal screening
programmes, and some may be due to earlier diagnosis
outside formal screening programmes
•
This makes trends and comparisons of breast cancer
incidence rates and survival hard to interpret
