Page Background

A sophisticated society that welcomes all, Dubai’s rich culture has historical

elements ranging from Bedouin life with its traditional arts and crafts to ancient

sites and archaeological finds are a must see.

Dubai grew from the area around the Dubai Creek and became a port on the

trade route between Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley. Hundreds of ancient

artefacts have been found at sites around the emirate and are housed in the

archaeological section of the Dubai Museum.

The roots of modern Dubai, however, can be traced back to the 1830s. Settled

by the Al Maktoum dynasty, an arm of the Bani Yas tribe, the emirate grew from

a small fishing village on the Shindagha peninsula to the modern metropolis it is

today. But Emiratis have deep ties to the city’s rich and colourful history, which is

being preserved and promoted with well-deserved pride.

We invite you to behold the charms of such a city.

In Dubai, witness the marvel of the true Arabian

Civilization
