ULSTER JUNIORS
We are delighted to welcome Ulster Juniors to Kingspan Stadium this evening to
celebrate their 2015 inter-provincial success in May.
Jason Morgan’s impressive squad won the series
for the first time in ten years after a clean sweep of
victories over the other three provinces.
Ulster opened their campaign with a hard fought
12-20 win over Connacht at Westport RFC thanks
to two tries from Enniskillen’s Jamie Johnston and
one from his back row colleague Curtis Stewart.
Portadown’s Chris Cousens kicked a penalty and a
conversion to complete the scoring.
They followed up that result by comfortably
overcoming Munster 35-0 at Carrickfergus RFC.
The home side stormed into a 23-0 lead by half
time as Bangor duo Stewart and Mark Widdowson
touched down and a powerful scrum yielded
a penalty try. Stewart and replacement winger
Andrew Pollock (Cooke) added further scores after
the break in the five try triumph. The rest of the
points came from the boot of Cousens.
The championship was then sealed with a 6-20 win
over Leinster on the final weekend at Ashbourne
RFC as Cousens and Stewart crossed the
whitewash. Cousens converted both scores and
kicked two penalties for a personal match tally of
15 points.
Congratulations and good luck for the
season ahead.
