A wide range of programs and approaches were
used, for example: Black sheep press, STA program,
Multi-lit, Mini-lit, Thrass, A sound way, Spelfabet,
LINK-S, Lindamood phoneme sequencing program
for literacy, Hanen resources, Spalding, Visualising
& verbalising, language support program, OLSEL
principles, ELF program, Four blocks literacy
framework, RTI, AAC.

Schools need knowledge about what speech
pathologists are able to offer, and how this relates to
literacy development and learning in the classroom.
•
Working collaboratively and respectfully with teachers
and becoming familiar with school curriculum and
school operations is essential.
•
Relationships underpin services and opportunities to
make changes in schools.
•
Knowledge of the response to intervention model
(RTI) is increasing.
•
Engagement with the school leadership team
and coaching of teachers to support professional
development are essential.
•
Undergraduate training and placements in
educational settings needs to occur for speech
pathologists.
