Universal Pediatric Assessment

Pediatric Multiple Trauma Protocol

Remove rings, bracelets, any

other constricting items, and

clothes where applicable

Thermal

Powder

Chemical

Flush with copious

water

Brush off powder

Apply dry sterile dressings

Evaluate for other injuries

If burn area is >10% body

surface area or involves face or

airway, carefully assess for

stridor, singed eyebrows and

hair, and respiratory distress

Pediatric Airway

Protocol

Pediatric IV/IO

Cardiac Monitor

S/S of shock or BSA

>20%

Fluid Bolus

20mL/kg

Transport to Pediatric Burn

Center if:

Burns are complicated by other

injuries

Electrical burns

Burns involving face, airway,

hands, feet, or perineum

Inhalation injuries

Full thickness BSA >10%

Partial thickness BSA >20%
