Bootstrap

Bootstrapping is a nonparametric method

It allows estimation of uncertainty and confidence

intervals

Artificial new samples of the same size are made by

drawing with replacement from the set of real data

The assumption is that drawing with replacement

from the sample is similar to drawing new samples

Hence, the sample should be large enough to be

representative of the entire population
