LAW-2604 Biotech Patent Law

2 credits day; 2 credits evening.

Grading will be based upon weekly written assignments and class participation. Not offered

2015-2016.

This seminar will explore the application of Patent Law to Biotechnology, one of the most

exciting and rapidly developing areas of Intellectual Property protection. Important case law

decisions relating to Biotechnology will be studied and discussed. Topics which will be explored

in regard to Biotechnology include: claim construction; conception and reduction to practice of

an invention; written description, enablement and best mode requirements; obviousness, novelty,

statutory; patent infringement; doctrine of equivalents and collaborative research and

development.

Prerequisite: Patent Law, which may be taken concurrently, or patent law experience
