EARTHMOVING

Maintenance on the 970E is simple and con-

venient. The engine is easily accessible when

the hood is lifted, providing adequate space

to access all the components. All the filters

are located in the main pump compartment

with easy access from ground level.

The 970E extends LiuGong’s product range

even further and demonstrates the com-

pany’s technical capability to manufacture

large tonnage machines to provide compre-

hensive solutions to large scale quarrying

and construction customers.

South Africa is a key market for LiuGong

who has invested in parts inventory locally

in order to provide backing for the dealer.

Also their focus on Sub-Saharan Africa will

be launched from their Johannesburg base.

In keeping with LiuGong’s strategy of de-

veloping relationships with partners in the

various markets in which they operate, they

have appointed the Burgers Group as their

dealer for South Africa and Namibia.

The Burgers Group is a family business,

established in 1989, commenced as a

transport and earthmoving business with

contracts to the mining industry mainly in

South Africa. Originally from Namibia, part

of the family eventually returned to Namib-

ia to concentrate on the retail business and

opened various retail outlets to sell equip-

ment and spares. Burgers, later on opened

in South Africa.

“Our experience in the contracting busi-

ness enabled us to assess various types of

equipment, especially those from the major

manufacturers. When our plant came up for

replacement we decided the try LiuGong as

pricing became a major factor in retaining

out contracts. We required cost effective

equipment at the time and LiuGong provid-

ed us with the best cost per hour machines.

Eventually we replaced our entire fleet with

LiuGong,” said Tiaan Burger, Director South

Africa.

“We have now curtailed our activities in the

transport and mining business and have

concentrated our efforts in the business of

selling equipment and spare parts for the

earthmoving and transport industries. Thus

we were approached by LiuGong to become

the official agents for South Africa and Na-

mibia.We

now have a full structure of support

for sales, parts and service with branches in

Johannesburg, Rustenburg, Cape Town and

Pietersburg, with a new facility to be opened

in Douglas. With the confidence and experi-

ence we have with the LiuGong product, we

have a distinct advantage in marketing the

brand,” concluded Burger.

Burgers have long term goals to become

one of the leaders in the earthmoving, agri-

culture and transport business by providing

good quality services that minimise break-

downs and give their customers maximum

uptime and high productivity levels.
