Having stared at the GIF of different colour layouts on the website for at least

half an hour, this review is probably the result of being one step short of an

hallucination – but a nonetheless enjoyable one at that. Pretty lights.

he Logitech G810 Orion

Spectrum is a beautiful

accessory. Featuring the

renowned Romer-G mechanical

keys, the Orion is 25 per cent

faster than its competitors, and 40

per cent more durable. Never

again will your supervisor wonder

whether or not you’re working –

they can hear you from down the

street, with the mechanical

switches resonating that

trademark clickety-clack. The keys

are also “ultra responsive”

(whatever that means), which

probably helps.

However, it’s difficult to stop

yourself from wanting to work on

this alluring device. The G810 sits

comfortably on your desk/bed/

lap/pet-on-your-lap, so it’s super

simple to work/game anywhere,

as long as you’re still close

enough to plug it in. The keys fit

snugly under the deft sweeps of

your fingers, allowing for fast and

efficient typing, whether you’re

BM-ing someone in game chat or

typing your resignation letter in

lieu of a new Elder Scrolls release.

All that’s without even

touching on how gorgeous it is

to look at. The Spectrum lighting

pattern included in the Orion

offers up to 16.8 million colour

combinations, which you can

customise down to your heart’s

content. Got other Logitech

Spectrum-enabled devices? Sync

the patterns to create a setup

in your room worthy of Darude

himself. You can select specific

keys to single out for abilities, and

even entire layouts for different

games – the keyboard software

comes preloaded with over

300 gaming profiles, so that’s a

pretty good place to start. It even

automatically scans your computer

and allocates the required profiles

for games you own, accordingly.

The G810 handles the pressure

rather well.

League of Legends

is child’s play to Logitech’s

beast, processing our champion

commands with ease. And when

confronting the most daunting

of raid bosses in

World of

Warcraft

, which requires the most

tempestuous and swift of button

presses, it holds up fine. Press all

the buttons!

Of course it's not all about the

gamers. Even if you don't have

a penchant for Call of Duty, you

can use it

even if you don’t game

.

The G810 has a neat scroll bar

that allows you to effortlessly

change the volume of whatever

you’re listening to with the ease

of scrolling on a mouse (Logitech

do those too – the G300 is

recommended). There are even

pause, play and skip buttons right

underneath, so it’s essentially its

own little audio hub.

If you’re a gamer in the

market for a high-end gaming

keyboard that’ll give you bang

for your buck, or simply looking

for something new to touch-

type on now that you’re bored

of your typewriter, Logitech’s

G810 Orion Spectrum is a great

place to start. With customisable

backlighting and responsive

mechanical keys, the kit allows

you to be the best at whatever

you’re doing - with style.

You can use it even

if you don’t game.
