External activities can include, but not be limited to

a) participation in proficiency tests where such
activities are available and appropriate

NOTE It is recommended to use proficiency tests that are
organized by providers that meet the requirements of ISO/IEC
17043
b) participation in interlaboratory comparisons
other than proficiency testing.
