Accuracy and Precision

or „true“ value

Precision

is the closeness of agreement of the results when the same measurement is

made repeatedly.

Error

is the difference between the measured quantity and its reference value.

Note that error in this context is not to be confused with a production error or mistake.

In the radiation oncology context, however, the word “error” tends to be used for both

measurement errors and mistakes.
