Judicial Commission.

A report from the Privileges Committee

in reference to the proposal announced by

the Government to appoint a Commission

to report upon administration of the Courts

of Justice in Ireland was submitted. The

report stated that the Committee were taking

steps

to secure

that

the profession be

represented on

the Commission, and the

Committee were also seeking the assistance

of Country Members to formulate suggestions

to be submitted to the Commission.

Courts and Offices.

In response to a communication received

in reply from the Legal Adviser of the

Government inviting the Council to nominate

some members to meet him and representa

tives of the Bar Council to inspect plans for

Courts and Offices in Dublin Castle, the

Council nominated four members for the

purpose.

Obituary.

MR. MARTIN HUGGARD, Solicitor, died upon

the 12th August, 1922, at Dublin.

Mr. Huggard was admitted in Hilary Term,

1865, and practised (in partnership with

Mr. John R. Brennan, under the style of

Messrs. Huggard and Brennan) at Wexford

and Gorey.

Mr. Henry F. Martley, Solicitor, died upon

the 28th August, 1922, at his residence,

" Glenville," Stillorgan Road, Dublin.

Mr. Martley was admitted in Easter Term,

1869, and practised

(in partnership with

Mr. Wilfred L. Barlee, under the style of

Messrs. Martley and Barlee) at 30 Westland

Row, Dublin.

He had been a member of the Council of

the Society for some years.

MR.

RICHARD

GRANT

PILKINGTON,

Solicitor, died upon the 1st September, 1922,

at Foxrock, County Dublin.

Mr. Pilkington was admitted in Michaelmas

Term,

1863,

and had practised at

Harcourt Street, Dublin, for a number of

years.

MR. GEORGE K. SHERLOCK, Solicitor, died

upon the 1st October, 1922, at his residence,

Roundhill House, Bandon.

Mr. Sherlock was admitted in Trinity

Term, 1859, and practised at Bandon.

He occupied the position of Sessional

Crown Solicitor for the West Riding of

County Cork for a number of years, and had

recently been appointed Sessional State

Solicitor for the same district.

MR. SAMUEL CUNNINGHAM, Solicitor, died

upon the 4th October, 1922, at Banbridge.

Mr. Cunningham was admitted in Trinity

Sittings, 1882, and practised (under the style

of Messrs. Cunningham and Crothers) at

Banbridge.

SIR AUGUSTINE F. BAKER, Solicitor, died

upon the 7th October, 1922, at 56 Merrion

Square, Dublin.

Sir Augustine was admitted in Hilary

Sittings, 1878, and practised (in partnership

with Mr. James P. Ringwood and Mr. Frank

V. Gordon, under the style of Messrs. Baker,

Ringwood and Gordon) at 5 Clare Street,

Dublin.

He was a member of the Council of the

Society from 1889 to 1918, and was President

of the Society for the year, 1902-03.

MR. THOMAS MERRICK, Solicitor, died upon

the llth October, 1922, at " Burncleuth,"

Ailesbury Road, Dublin.

Mr. Merrick was apprenticed to his father,

the late Mr. Thomas Merrick, Fleet Street,

Dublin ;

was admitted in Hilary Sittings,

1885, and practised at 45 Fleet Street, Dublin.

MR. EDWARD MCFADDEN, Solicitor, died

upon the 16th October, 1922, at Harrogate.

Mr. McFadden was admitted in Trinity

Sittings, 1886, and practised at Letterkenny.
