Hired a public artist to work on the West
Village Energy Centre project and
developed a Council-approved feature
public art concept; and
Provided educational opportunities
around the sustainable use of energy as
part of the communication strategy for
the West Village District Energy Centre.
Completed the second and third phases
of district energy infrastructure in the
King George and Gateway areas;
Connected over 1 million square feet of
new development to the City Centre
district energy system; and
Established a carbon intensity target for
district energy in Surrey which is
formalized in the Sustainability Charter
2.0.
FUTURE INITIATIVES, GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Develop a Low Carbon District Energy Strategy that will establish opportunities for
the utility to reduce its carbon footprint.
Provide a permanent energy centre for
existing customers in the West Village
area in addition to establishing the
capacity needs of future customers in
the area by constructing the West
Village District Energy Plant; and
Complete the fourth phase of the district
energy network and connect all new
development to the City Centre district
energy system.
