Proof Test & Functional Test

Proof Test:

Periodic test performed to detect dangerous hidden failures in

a SIS so that, if necessary, a repair can restore the system to an

‘as new’ condition or as close as practical to this condition

[IEC61511-1:2016 / 3.2.58 (3.2.56 in proposed corrigendum)]

Functional Test:

Usually referred to the testing of a safety-related system to

ensure that the specified safety function is performing its

functions.
