In people’s homes, large meals feature various dishes served together,
except for soup (which comes at the beginning) and dessert (at the end). The
dishes usually include plain rice; black beans or kidney beans in thick sauce;
meat, poultry, or fish; a green salad; cooked vegetables; and a little fried cake.
As side dishes there will be sausage with cassava flour or a
farofa
. Pickled
chilies or chili sauce add spice to a meal. Brazilians enjoy the kind of food that
can be eaten with their hands in small bites.
