2018 ANNUAL CONFERENCE REVIEW
9
Following the annual business meeting, Dr. Harrison-Williams
surprised Dr. Clark with a special thank you video for his
hard work advocating for the Evidenced-Based School
Funding Model.
Dr. Rick Rigsby, President
and CEO of Rick Rigsby
Communications, was the
keynote opening session
speaker giving a rousing,
passionate speech to
motivate superintendents to
make an impact with those
they come in contact with.
“The greatest lessons
are never learned on
the mountain top. They
are formed and forged
in the midst of pain.
Great people are always learning,” said Rigsby. “They are
constantly challenging themselves. Ask yourself, What kind
of legacy are you leaving? That impact you make will last far
after you are gone. When you make an impact you change
lives. You change the culture, one person at a time.” Rigsby
challenged the audience to wake up every morning and ask
themselves, “How great can I be today?” Champions are
great because they do the little things the best, he stated. He
also shared a quote from former Pittsburgh Steelers coach
Chuck Knoll, “Champions are champions not because they
do extraordinary things, but because they do ordinary things
better than everybody else.”
