Lower Plains: Kansas, Nebraska
The Keeper of the Plains is a 44 foot (13 m) tall steel sculpture, located in Wichita near the spot
where the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers meet. The sculpture, by a Kiowa-Comanche artist
named Blackbear Bosin, was completed in 1974. Nearby are exhibits about the various Native
American tribes that inhabited this region before the arrival of Europeans in the 16th century.
