The Gazette of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland.

MR. ROBERT A. MACRORY, Solicitor, died

upon the 30th October, 1919, at his residence,

Coollegrean, Windsor Avenue, Belfast.

Mr. Macrory was admitted in Hilary Term,

1859, and practised at Belfast up to the year

1916, when he retired.

Appointments.

Mr. Henry Shannon, Solicitor, Nenagh,

has been appointed Clerk of the Crown and

Peace for the County of Tipperary, in room

of the late Mr. Walter Nolan.

Mr. John N. Scallan, Solicitor, Ennis-

corthy, has been appointed Clerk of the

Crown and Peace for the County of Wexford,

in room of Mr. Henry L. Meadows, resigned.

Mr. Hugh H. Mussen, Belfast, has been

appointed to the combined offices of Crown

and Sessional Crown Solicitor for County

Down,

in room of Mr. Matthew Wylie,

resigned.

Mr. John W. Buggy, Solicitor, Clonmel,

has been appointed Sub-Sheriff for the County

of Tipperary, in room of Mr. Henry Shannon,

resigned.

Mr. James B. Butler, Solicitor, Dublin,

late Lieutenant, R.G.A., has been appointed

an Auditor under the Local Government

Board for Ireland.

Supreme Court Rules.

WITNESSES' EXPENSES.

By Order in Council dated 14th July, 1919,

Order LXV., Rule 65 (11), of the Rules of the

Supreme Court,

1905, was amended by

increasing in certain instances the amounts

therein prescribed for

the expenses and

allowances to witnesses.

The following are the increases made :—

Item A.—The sums of 3/6 and 5/- are

increased to 5/-- and 10/- respectively.

Item B.—The sums of 5/- and 7/6 are

increased to 7/6 and 15/- respectively.

Item C.—The sum of 10/- is increased

to £1.

Item D.—The sum of £1 is increased to

£1 5s. Od.

Commissioners' Fees.

By Order in Council dated 20th September,

1919, Order LXV

(11), Rule

19,

and

Appendix S., Part 1

(259), of the Rules of

the Supreme Court, 1905, were amended by

increasing the fee (Higher and Lower Scales)

payable to the Commissioner for Oaths for

marking each exhibit, from sixpence to one

shilling.

Solicitor, to be a Committee to inquire and

report upon the following matters, viz. :—

To inquire into the duties, method of

appointment, salaries and allowances of

the Clerks of the Crown and Peace, and to

report whether their duties have increased

or decreased of recent years ; and whether

the office of County Courts Registrar

should be made greater use of for public

purposes

(with consequent

increase of

efficiency and economy of administration).
