1898 Coiling Dragon 1c ochre block of 4, with bilingual handstamped surcharged ‘Five Dollars’, virtually full original gum and

hinged on the top 2 stamps only, very fine and extremely rare. Photo

Sir David Roseway requested information about the surcharge in the China Clipper of Noverber 1955, at that time Sir David

Roseway ventured the thought that this might be a revenue. There does not appear to have been any response to the enquiry.
