1880 (2 June) Amixed franking Large Dragon cover opened out for display from Tientsin to USA. On reverse bearing Large Dragon

thin paper 1cd to 5cds complete set of 3 tied by scarce small type ‘TIENTSIN’ seal chop, matching ‘CUSTOMS/TIENTSIN/2.6.80’

cds alongside, 3cds and 5cds additionally tied by ‘CUSTOMS/SHANGHAI/6.6.80’ transit cds, also ‘SAN FRANCISCO/5.7.80’

transit cds in red. On front, Japanese Koban 5 sen brown, damaged in top right corner, tied ‘Cross’ (

白抜

) type cancel in black,

matching the double ring ‘I.J.POSTAL AGENCY/SHANGAHI/9.6’ Japanese Post Office cancel alongside and single ring

‘YOKOHAMA/19.6.80’ US Post Office cancel as transit. Small part of back flap is missing but this does not affect any stamps

or cancellations. A rare combination cover to the USA showing the small Tientsin antique type seal chop.
