enhanced by one (1) additional fulltime, permanent Economic Development Coordinator position to help implement

and augment this growing program. Efforts led by the new Economic Development Coordinator are identified with

“(EDC)” in the activities listed below.

FY 15-16 Focus Areas and Major Initiatives:

1)

Downtown Development

—the implementation of Successor Agency real estate disposition in the Downtown.

Manage tenant relocation efforts to assist Downtown businesses potentially displaced by the sale of former

RDA Downtown opportunity sites.

Continue to assist in Downtown development efforts to leverage City’s infrastructure improvements to entice

new development and new investment.

Assist with the development of the former redevelopment sites, the parking garage, retail space and street-

scape improvements.

Assist with Downtown initiatives to make downtown attractive to families of all ages, including the creation

of public art and placemaking activities.

Create a temporary park and bike hub in a location that will help activate the street and support local busi-

nesses mitigating construction impacts.

Implement Gateway Art Project(s) through an artist selection program to announce the arrival to Downtown

and create a sense of place.

Develop programs and signage to assist during construction of streetscape projects.

2) Business Retention and Attraction—promoting the expansion of existing businesses and promoting industrial op-

portunity sites to new businesses to create employment opportunities and relocation of downtown tenants poten-

tially displaced by the sale of downtown opportunity sites.

Hold quarterly meetings with the Morgan Hill Manufacturing Stakeholder Group to identify opportunities for

partnership; policy needs, and to support and expand Morgan Hill’s manufacturing sector. (EDC)

Connect with the top 25 companies, including largest employers and sales tax generators, to explore their

operational and/or growth needs and craft a path to assist with their long term satisfaction and longevity in

Morgan Hill. To the extent needed, offer development processing assistance and planning to advance their

business decisions. (EDC)

Develop and administer existing programs, such as the Impact Fee Financing Program, SCIP, and the Grow

Morgan Hill Fund and promote regional programs like Work2Future on-the job training, regional Micro loans,

PG&E equipment and energy efficiency financing, SBA and SCORE programs. (EDC)

Work with developers/property owners to strengthen key commercial/retail sites.
