Compliance monitoring of BMR homes and rental units
Evaluate the demand and efficiency of the new BMR Senior Rehab Program
Strategize additional ways to assist the region as a whole with the affordable housing crisis and response
Explore options to create or augment Housing Programs
Explore options to participate in regional efforts to end homelessness
Participate in the County of Santa Clara's "Seniors Agenda" Housing workgroup
Review the level of services provided at existing Affordable Housing developments in relation to the needs of the
residents
COUNCIL GOALS
The Housing Department will implement policies and activities that are aligned with the priorities, goals and strategies
the City Council has set for 2015:
Stimulate Economic Development
o
The use of housing funds to create new developments will bring construction jobs to the community while
stimulating development on vacant or dilapidated parcels.
o
Pursuing compensation due to BMR foreclosures and preventing foreclosures will not only maintain the
City’s investment in affordable housing, but keep the foreclosure rate below average
Enhance Community Engagement and Diversity
o
The Housing Division, through the City’s non-profit partner, will be providing outreach activities and events
to increase awareness of the BMR program with current residents, potential participants, employees as well
as with the lender and realtor community
o
Provide access to local foreclosure prevention education programs
o
Stakeholder and public participation events will be conducted through the Housing Element process
o
Galvan Park CDBG project will include extensive community engagement to facilitate feedback on new
amenities to be included with project.
Participate in Regional Issues
o
Continue working with other Cities in Ad Hoc working groups to analyze and strategize best Housing prac-
