Committee Member Removal or Resignation

If a member of the Committee is not performing the duties appropriately, the Committee chair

will submit a revised draft roster that recommends removal of the Committee member to the

OMB for its consideration. A two-thirds vote in favor of approving the revised draft roster by

OMB approves the removal of a Committee member.

If a member is not able or is no longer able to serve because of retirement, changes in

employment responsibilities, removal, or if he/she becomes unable to carry out the duties of a

Committee member, the member must notify AOAC staff and the Committee chair in writing

regarding their need to resign from the Committee. The Committee chair will submit a revised

draft roster that recommends removal of the Committee member to the OMB for its

consideration. A two-thirds vote in favor of approving the revised draft roster by OMB

approves the removal of a Committee member.

Upon removal, a thank you letter from the President is sent to the Committee member, with

copies sent to the Committee chair and the Official Methods Board Chair. A thank you letter is

sent if a Committee member resigns his/her appointment.
