for country solicitors for

over 100 years. Michael has

been appointed to serve on

the Compensation Fund

Committee and the Practice

Management Committee.

Michael is particularly

interested in the current

proposal for the reform of the

courts system, the public's

perception of the profession

and about the Society's

exposure to claims against its

Compensation Fund and in

looking into what further steps

can be taken to reduce the

risks to the Fund.

Martin Harvey

qualified as a

solicitor in 1978 and practices

in the firm of Martin A. Harvey

& Co. which was founded by

his father. Martin has been

appointed to serve on the Pro-

fessional Guidance Committee.

Martin's main objective as a

new member of Council is to

make the Law Society more

user friendly to its members. He

would like to see the Society in

a more representative role of its

members and he is of the view

that the Law Society is in fact

going in that direction.
