OXYGEN SENSORS - TESTERS
WHAT THEY DO
Measure the amount of oxygen in the exhaust after
combustion and signal the computer to adjust the
air/fuel mixture
FAILURE SYMPTOMS
Poor performance and economy, high emissions .
MAINTENANCE/SERVICE
Perform periodic emissions checks. Replace according to
manufacturer’s specifications or every 25,000 to 30,000
miles. Watch for service flag or “Check Engine” light.
INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSORS
Measures air temperature in the intake manifold and signals
computer to adjust air/fuel mixture. Failure Symptoms: Check
engine light is on continuously, hesitation, poor mileage or
rich exhaust odor, poor performance and economy.
