DAVID BUSBY

DISCUSSES...

Senior debut on Sunday – what was

that like?

It was a dream come true for me, I have been

waiting a long time to be given a chance and I’m

really glad it came on Sunday in Parma.

At the time, I was just happy to get on the field,

then luckily I got the bounce of the ball off a great

kick from JP (Jared Payne) and was able to get

the try, which was an added bonus.

How do you feel you have progressed

this season?

I feel that I have progressed well, it's been great

training with the seniors full time, I am trying to

learn as much as I can from them. I feel that

playing with the Ulster A team has really helped

my progression especially as we have secured

a British & Irish Cup quarter-final and we’ve had

some strong performances as a team.

There is fierce competition in the squad,

does that motivate you?

Yes definitely, everyone wants to be on the match

day 23 come Friday nights and play as many

games as they can, so the competition brings out

the best in players.

As a young player, what’s it like to play

alongside the likes of Charles Piutau and

Tommy Bowe?

I used to watch Tommy on TV when I was kid, so

playing alongside him is surreal at times. Playing

with Charles is brilliant, as he makes everyone

else's job a lot easier by some of things he can

do on the pitch. Also, JP has been great to play

with as his rugby knowledge is second to none.

It’s great that the coaches also have faith in us

young guys - they mix the more experienced

players, with players coming through the ranks.

Which shows that if your putting in the work

and producing good performances you will be

rewarded with a chance.

What are your goals for the rest of

this season?

Keep working hard and trying to put my hand up

for selection. Also from a team point of view, our

goal is to push on and win the PRO12.
