T o be completely frank, I did none too
good with the book learnin' at skool, but
I would have performed even worse in
Class 3-E, lovingly known as the Assassination
Classroom. Season 1, Part 1 introduces us
to the teacher, an alien who resembles an
overgrown balloon animal, can move at the
speed of sound, and has just destroyed 70 per
cent of the moon. So not only do you need to
focus on your reading, writing and arithmetic,
you also need to brush up on your assassination
skills and kill the big squid before he finishes
the job.
Rounding off the second season of the
ubiquitous magical series, Sailor Moon R, Part
2 sees Usagi and co. take on the Black Moon
Clan and their ongoing plan to destroy Crystal
Tokyo. Now to keep our fingers crossed for a
local release of season 3, Sailor Moon S.
The imaginatively named Ghost in the Shell:
The New Movie is, well, a new Ghost in the
Shell movie. That is to say, there have been old
Ghost in the Shell movies, but this Ghost in the
Shell movie is a new one. This new movie ties
up the loose ends left
in the Pyrophoric
Cult storyline
of the recent
Arise 5
episode OVA,
so isn't actually
a standalone
film. Regardless, it's
always great to see our pals from Section 9 and
beautifully animated as expected.
The fan favourite demonic duo of Ciel
and Sebastian return in Black Butler: Book
of Circus, Season 3. At the behest of the
Queen, Ciel and Sebastian are summoned to
investigate the mysterious disappearance of
local children. This leads the two to Noah's
Ark Circus, probably just because circuses are
generally creepy as all get out. Prepare for the
usual amount of violence and veiled intimacy
because this is every bit the series that you
already know and love.
If you're not a fan of blood (the onscreen
kind, you sicko) then look away now, because
part 2 of the live action Parasyte adaptation has
got enough of it to make a butcher blush. The
parasites and humans are in full war mode, that
is except for Shinichi and Migi. But how will this
hybrid team perform when their back is against
the wall?
If you, like me, were hoping to find a series
about mystical purveyors of warm caffeinated
beverages, you're sheer out of luck. Wizard
Barristers is about the fantastical legal teams
formed to defend their equally magical clients
in the wizardy court of law. Just saying, Wizard
Baristas the Animated Series would be a
massive hit in Melbourne.
Also hitting shelves this month are
Kamisama Kiss: Season 2 , Mekakucity Actors
the Complete Series, Re:_Hamatora the
Animation Season 2 and Maken-Ki Season 2.
ANIME ROUND-UP
5 Gosick
How the heck do you say it? Is it
goss-ick? Is it go-sick? Well I'll tell
ya, it's how you'd pronounce gothic
in Japanese... kinda. The silly part is
that if you actually said "gothic" in
Japanese, it'd come out "goshikku".
4 Madlax
This is a completely personal dislike.
It's just... this title sounds like
something that helps you poop easier.
3 Puella Magi Madoka
Magica
What a mouthful! The original title,
Mahou Shojo Madoka Magica,
translates to Magical Girl Madoka
Magica, but why use English when
you can use Latin? Let go. It's a dead
language, along with Aramaic and
1337 speak!
2 The Severing Crime Edge
I kinda get it, sorta. I mean, I know
what all of those words are, I just don't
understand what they're doing next to
each other.
1 The Legend of the
Legendary Heroes
Double the legend, double the the. I'm
quite sure this tale has been told at
many a drinking establishment at 2am
on a Saturday.
