HALF CREDIT COURSES (JANUARY TO JUNE)
PAF4O2
– Personal and Fitness Activities, Grade 12, Open Semestered
0.5 CREDIT
This course focuses on the development of a personalized approach to healthy active living through
participation in a variety of sports and recreational activities that have the potential to engage
students’ interest throughout their lives. Students will develop and implement personal physical fitness
plans. In addition, they will be given opportunities to refine their decision-making, conflict-resolution,
and interpersonal skills, with a view to enhancing their mental health and their relationships with
others.
Student learning will focus on the principles of fitness and strength training and how to apply this knowledge to develop a personal
training program to reach personal fitness goals. Body management activities may include: yoga, pilates, running, strength training,
aqua fitness, martial arts, and dance.
PAI4O2
– Racquet Sports, Grade 12, Open Semestered
0.5 CREDIT
This course focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable
physical activities that have the potential to engage students’ interest throughout their lives. Students
will be encouraged to develop personal competence in a variety of movement skills and will be given
opportunities to practice goal-setting, decision-making, and social and interpersonal skills. Students
will also study the components of healthy relationships, human development & sexual health, mental
health, and personal safety.
Student learning will focus on racquet sports. Students will focus on the transferrable skills and strategies in net/wall activities.
Activities may include: tennis, badminton, pickleball, squash, racquetball, and table tennis.
PAQ4O2
– Aquatics Certification, Grade 12, Open Semestered
0.5 CREDIT
This course focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable
physical activities in the pool that have the potential to engage students’ interest throughout their lives
with a focus on outdoor activities. Students will be encouraged to develop personal competence in a
variety of movement skills and will be given opportunities to practice goal-setting, decision-making, and
social and interpersonal skills. Students will also study the components of healthy relationships, human
development & sexual health, mental health, and personal safety.
Student learning will focus swimming, personal safety, and the safety of others through Lifeguard certification. Students will have the
opportunity to complete their National Lifeguarding certification. Students must have Standard First Aid and Bronze Cross to take this
course.
PPL4O2
– Healthy Active Living Education, Grade 12, Open Semestered
0.5 CREDIT
This course focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable
