MANAGER’S
VIEW
I can hardly believe that it was nearly four and a
half months ago that we were last here earning a
magnificent three points against Azerbaijan.
I know that it is a cliché but every one of our
remaining matches is vital as we scrap to challenge
Germany at the top of the group and particularly for
us try to secure that coveted play-off spot.
I don’t like to repeat myself but tonight’s opponents
will provide a stiff challenge. The appointment of
Lars Lagerback, with his fine international pedigree
and experience, places Norway very much on the
front foot, and we will have to be very watchful
to ensure that we can maintain our 100% home
record in this group.
Norway have not had the best of starts to their
qualification campaign but with six matches left to
play everything is possible and none of the chasing
four teams can be ruled out of the race.
I can assure you all that my team and I will be
striving to maintain our good home form and to
deliver another three points before our difficult
journey to Azerbaijan in June.
Chris Brunt was magnificent against Azerbaijan
at home, despite his bang on the head, and I

am delighted for Chris as injury robbed him of
participating in our French adventure last summer.
To see him back at his best competing for
qualification for Russia is a reminder of how hard
work and determination to do well is a major
driving force within players and is a wonderful
example to the younger players.
I know that this match is a sell-out with the
remaining tickets being snapped up online within
15 minutes of going on sale. The immense and
passionate support of everyone in Northern Ireland
is truly humbling for myself and the players but
inspires us to keep providing the exciting moments
and we will certainly be doing our best to do that
tonight.
Your vocal support is important as we progress
through this group and I know I can rely on you all
to help cheer us over the line.
Thanks for your continued support.
