2017

B

lack Sabbath's

unstoppable

power just seem to

float everyone's boat,

no matter their age or

background. Whether

you grew up with the

lads and saw them at

Birmingham Odeon

in 1977, or only heard

the riff for

Paranoid

last week, a touch

of Sabbath gets to

everyone. Toniegh

Knock from JB Hi-FI

Carousel (in Perth,

WA) is no exception.

"I saw them on

their final tour! It

was amazing: Ozzy

Osbourne with his

wobbly walk and

cupped hands: he

was so cute." But Toniegh –

the Music Advisor and Dual

Coordinator at the store – has

wide ranging tastes indeed.

"I'm definitely ecletic, with a

touch of camp. My all time

loves are Black Sabbath and

Lady Gaga." she says. "Throw in

some '90s R&B, Dolly Parton,

The Love Junkies, supported

by Nerve Quakes. From time

to time, Toniegh likes to drag a

store colleague along to

"indie gigs – we're off to

Drowning Horse at the

Rosemount Hotel soon."

As for the Carousel store,

it has the usual varied JB

Hi-Fi demographic – all

ages, all genres. "

"We sell a

lot of classical, a

lot of Andre Rieu.

We definitely have

that older audience

who like a physical

release. But, we also

have loads of music nuts

coming to browse the

vinyl catalogue, which

is really rich and varied.

Vinyl sells really well in

our store, whether it's

new releases or the more

heritage related stuff."

And every now and again

the staff will spot a local music

celeb browsing the racks "One

of the guys from San Cisco

popped in a while ago: he was

just after something he was

into, it's nice to see musicians

who are fans as well."

Kendrick Lamar, bit of punk,

Amy Winehouse, Ghost B.C +

others and that’s where I'm at."

A dyed-in-the wool-music fan,

Toniegh also caught Riff Raff

at Jack Rabbit Slim's in Perth's

Northbridge (she describes him

as "great – brilliantly obnoxious")

and next on her calendar is
