In the stairs
Of the universe

The guardian and assessor –
Cheerful and genial and friendly
Or severe and austere and aloof
Or
Inscrutable,
Your mass is held and vibrant
With knowledge and its power –
Not as a weapon
Or a means to force
Submission,
But as an instrument
Of compassion and wisdom
In the gradual clearance
Of
