The Foundation is established to raise funds to support
the Atlantic City Medical Center (ACMC).
The Ruth Newman Shapiro Regional Cancer Center opens at ACMC
after a generous $1 million pledge from the prior year.
Frank Sinatra held a benefit concert at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall for ACMC.
The City Campus’s south wing is named the Frank SinatraWing the next year.
AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Mainland Campus begins its expansion
to include a three-story, 71,000 square foot facility; features new Emergency
Department and the Center for Childbirth. The Healing Arts Program is established
with 200 pieces of artwork. Today, it contains over 2,000.
The AtlantiCare Foundation launches Healthy Schools, Healthy Children to address
the childhood obesity epidemic with six local schools. Today, it partners with over 90
schools.
The George Lynn Harmony Tower at the ARMC’s City Campus
expands to include a 6
th
and 7
th
floor, with a new trauma center,
emergency room, and other clinical areas.
AtlantiCare opens its Cancer Care Institute in partnership with Fox Chase
Cancer Center bringing high quality cancer treatment to the region.
Funds from the Thomas L. Glenn, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament are used to
fund the opening of the AtlantiCare Behavioral Health Child & Adolescent
Care Center located in Egg Harbor Township.
The AtlantiCare Foundation concludes a campaign to transform and update the
ARMC Mainland Campus. The Rothman Institute gives $3 million to support the
expansion of a surgical pavilion named the Rothman Institute Pavilion.
The AtlantiCare Foundation celebrates its 40th Anniversary by launching
4 mini-campaigns to advance the organization into the future.
ACMC becomes AtlantiCare.
A $5 million capital campaign establishes the Heart Institute,
the region’s only cardiac surgery program.
