Marios Schwab
looked at the
ancient rituals and traditions for
inspiration for his spring/summer
2013
collection. Attitude this
season was a must have as each
model needed the perfect look,
poise and composure to aid the
edginess of Schwab’s clothing.
Leather was the key this season
at Schwab as it adorned dresses,
shoes and of course the killer
accessories. Yet even though this
collection showed a hard exterior
of softness;
a pleated leather skirt would be
paired together with a woollen
jumper or delicate lace would be
added to enhance the femininity of
the collection. But it was not until
those billowing Schwab gowns hit
the catwalk that the real fantasy
element was revealed. Sheer
materials and exotic beading went
hand in hand to bring some of the
most desirable gowns of Fashion
Week, the leather fringing only
adding to the tough ritual aesthetic.

Jasper Conran
did
something completely
unexpected. Firstly, the
catwalk was a grassy
haven and secondly, neon
flower lighting adorned
the walls. Just when you
thought it could not get
any more different from
the previous minimalist
season - Conran put
denim on the runway.
Daisy Duke inspired
pieces came sauntering
down the runway, making
the collection highly
playful and of course,
highly adaptable. Colour
schemes were diverse
stretching from dark
navys to bright reds.
Never before have we
seen a collection like
this from Conran, the
playful aspect mixed
with the demure smock
style dresses ticked all
the requirements for a
summer of fun.
