WireCo’s expansion into Eastern Europe
increased after it bought Drumet Liny i
Druty Sp zoo (Drumet) – adding 700 staff
to its workforce.
The group bought the Polish company for
an undisclosed sum.
Drumet, based in Wloclawek, Poland,
is said to be the largest producer of steel
wire, steel wire bands and wire ropes in
Eastern Europe, while Kansas City-based
WireCo is believed to be the world’s largest
producer of braided wire cable.
“The acquisition of Drumet...substantially
expands our global wire production
capabilities and provides excellent synergies
in operations and in the international
marketplace,” advised WireCo CEO Ira
Glazer. “Drumet has over 120,000 tons
of steel wire capacity... We plan to maintain
Drumet’s manufacturing operations and
anticipate the utilization rates of the facility
will expand quickly.”
Overall, WireCo now has around 3,300
employees globally. It recorded $447.7
million in revenue in 2010.
The facility in Poland adds to a global
production network that includes facilities
in the United States, Germany, China,
Mexico and Portugal.
