Discovering Costa Rica

The kind of wildlife which can be found in Costa Rica include jaguars, pumas, agouties, green

turtles, several species of monkeys, crocodiles, and sloths, among others. Some parks also

contain active volcanoes, turtle nesting sites, and coral reefs.

Tortuguero National Park:

The best way

to see this park is from a boat. The main

attraction of attraction of this park is the

turtles. Green Sea, Leatherback, and

Hawksbill turtles nest on the beaches here

Playa Grande:

This beach was first

incorporated into the park in 1990, and is

very protected because it is home to the

nesting site of the Leatherback turtles. This

park is popular for its excellent surfing

conditions

Ostional National Wildlife Refuge:

This is

a nesting place for sea turtles, with nesting

season from August to November. At night,

visitors can pay an entrance fee to see the

arribada, when the turtles nest their eggs in

the sand

Cahuita National Park:

Best known for the

coral reefs close to shore, there is

opportunity for snorkeling and exploring an

ecosystem that may be close to extinction
