Kay Newberry Brooks

serves as Chief Executive

Officer for Aspire Behavioral Health and Developmental

Disability Services in Southwest Georgia. A Licensed

Professional Counselor with thirty years of experience in

community behavioral health and developmental

disability services to adults, children, and adolescents, she

received her doctorate in psychology and counseling in

2012. Her experience and training include addiction,

trauma and post traumatic growth. She gained clinical

and administrative skills through a variety of challenging

job experiences such as hospice, geriatric, family and

children assessment services, and community behavioral

health and developmental disability settings. She has

served as an adjunct faculty member at two local colleges

teaching psychology and counseling courses and currently

serves on the board of directors for numerous local, county and regional organizations.

Aspire is among the top community service board safety net providers in Georgia. It

continues to expand its services in rural Georgia, promoting recoveryǦfocused “earlier

intervention” and maintaining individuals with supports in their community, decreasing

traumatization, and, thus, the need for a higher level of care. Aspire is a “blueǦprint”

model for training in its Child and Adolescent programs, Behavioral Health Crisis Center,

Early Intervention and personǦcentered Developmental Disability units. Aspire has also

successfully repurposed a closed, rural hospital into a 12Ǧmonth Residential Recovery

program.
