and TORX1350 (V,F) are vertical type. The

devices have an operating temperature

range of -40°C to 85°C and support a power

supply voltage of 5V.

Toslink is a data transmission system that

utilizes optical signals in place of electrical

signals, so avoiding any electromagnetic

noise, and performing more reliably than

electrical data transmission. The optical

cable is not susceptible to electromagnetic

interference. The new models enable high

speed, long distance and low consumption

current optical communications, making

them well-suited for transmission of control

signals in energy sensitive applications

including wind and photovoltaic power

generation systems, control devices, battery

controllers and various industrial devices.

Crane cable

TPC Wire & Cable Corp’s Super-Trex

®

cable

family has a new addition, especially

developed for use on lifting equipment and

crane systems.

Super-Trex basket-crane cable, sometimes

referred to as bologna cable, is constructed

using a heavy-duty polyurethane jacket

that provides protection against abrasion,

chemicals and UV light, while maintaining

all-weather flexibility to -40°C. Additional

strength and support is provided by an

aramid fiber braid.

Lead-chain weights on the Super-Trex

basket-crane cable give it added mass

and stability, allowing it to coil easily within

the basket and lending stability, especially

in windy environments. The cable is said to

be suitable for applications in steel mills,

wood and paper product manufacturing

plants, as well as in shipping and container

ports.

Elastomers for autos

Teknor Apex has launched a new jacket

compound with a low temperature

brittleness value of <-60ºC. The compound

is the latest addition to a suite of rugged

Flexalloy

®

PVC elastomer products for

jacketing and insulation of electric vehicle

charger cables.

Flexalloy 9612-75 is a 75 Shore A jacket

compound that complies with the -40ºC

Cold Impact test requirement specified in

CSA standards. It exhibits tensile strength of

2,645 psi (18.2 MPa) and elongation of 390

percent, and complies with the UL-62 oil

resistance requirement.

“All of the Flexalloy compounds for EV

charger cable are abrasion resistant,

resilient, and tough even at very low

temperatures, yet cost effective for

large-volume production,” said Michael

Roberts, wire and cable industry manager.

“Thedurability andelasticity of Flexalloy PVC

elastomers make them high performance

alternatives to standard PVC compounds,
