For a casual, everyday look, a yellow Lacoste polo paired

with powder-blue shorts is color-blocking at its most

classic. Poolside, a Koi fish print brings a note of whimsy

to button-fly swim trunks. (Though a cotton twill Fish

Hippie sports cap is most at home on the water, it’s having

a genuine moment in high fashion: Balenciaga, Acne

Studios and A.P.C. all sent similar caps down Spring/

Summer runways.) And for a summer soiree, nothing beats

sand-hued trousers paired with vivid blue accessories –

this ensemble is the visual equivalent of a seashore, and

thanks to lightweight linen, it’s just as breezy.

Overall trends? Shorts are slimmer and shorter (don’t shy

away from a mid-thigh length), yellow is the new pink, and

sandstone hues are the neutrals du jour. Of course, when

it comes to fashion, all rules are made to be broken, except

for one. Never leave home without a cool pair of shades.
