The land now farmed by Coolmore Australia at Jerrys Plains,
New South Wales, has a long association with horses going
back to the 1820’s when its owner George Bowman had a
sire called Pegasus. In the 1890’s the Ellis family stood a top
Clydesdale stallion by the name of Gallant Scotchman.
Then in the early part of the twentieth century the Moses
brothers, William and Frederick, stood or bred the
outstanding thoroughbreds St Alwyne, Valais, Nightwatch,
Poitrel, Heroic, Manfred and Valicare.
More recently, there have been 48 Gr.1-winning graduates of
Coolmore Australia since 1996 including champion sprinter
and champion sire Fastnet Rock, current superstar Winx and
the brilliant juveniles Pride of Dubai and Vancouver.
