The Coolmore Tradition

The Coolmore stallion tradition began in the 1850’s when Thomas Magnier started offering

breeders along the Blackwater Valley in Co Cork, Ireland, a stallion called Edlington.

And what he started is still being carried on today by his great-great grandson Tom in the

Hunter Valley. It’s a tradition of standing stallions of the highest quality and at the same time

offering breeders real value.

Coolmore Australia is located on almost 9,000 acres, including 5,000 of irrigated river flats

and undulating paddocks in the heart of the wonderful Hunter Valley. It’s land that has

been standing champion sires and producing champion racehorses for over a century,

is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and managed by a professional staff with decades

of knowledge of thoroughbred breeding from all around the world.
