The IASA Exemplary Service to Education Award
The IASA Exemplary Service to Education Award, now in its 13th year, is
presented during the IASA Annual Conference. This award is presented to
individuals in recognition of exemplary leadership contributions to Illinois
public schools, the field of school administration and students. Past recipients
of the award are listed below.
Another highlight of Day One at the IASA Conference was the naming of
Jim Burgett as the 2016 winner of the IASA Exemplary Service to Education
Award. A former teacher and principal who served more than 25 years
as a superintendent, Burgett now is an author and public speaker as part
of the EdLeaders Network. Burgett was honored as a “defender of public
education in Illinois” by IASA Executive Director Brent Clark, who presented
Burgett with the award during the opening ceremonies.
