O

ne of the biggest hit series of recent

years,

Tokyo Ghoul: Season 1

has

something for your average punter and

mega-fan alike, with a standard DVD edition,

standard Blu-ray edition, and a Limited Edition

DVD & Blu-ray Combo

Pack. And for a couple

of extra woolongs, a

special edition of the

first season on DVD and

Blu-ray as well as

postcards, a fabric

banner and an

absolutely gorgeous art

book.

Local releases

of quality Japanese

cinema are sporadic

at best, so the release

of the live-action

adaptation of

Parasyte: Part 1

on DVD and

Blu-ray is worth getting excited about. Not only

that, the manga turned anime turned live-action

film has all of the action, comedy and gore that

you'd expect from this razor sharp franchise.

One of my favourite recent series comes to

an end (for now) with the release of

Sword Art

Online 2 - Part 2

, and in spectacular fashion no

less. You could cheap out and grab the standard

DVD or Blu-ray edition, or prove your otaku cred

by grabbing the Limited Edition DVD or Blu-ray

which includes an art book and a limited edition

box to hold Part 1 and Part 2. Those parts won't

house themselves, friend.

As persistent a fan favourite as you're likely

to find,

Persona 4:The Golden Animation

Complete Series

hits DVD shelves in a flurry

of action, adventure and mystery – all of which

inexplicably seem to

revolve around transfer

student Yu Narukami.

Not just for fans of the

video game source

material, this series also

has a brilliant soundtrack

and gorgeous animation

by the always reliable

A-1 Pictures.

All loved up and

being in a meaningful

relationship should be

all that's needed in life,

right? Wrong.

Love,

Chunibyo & Other Delusions - Heart

Throb (Season 2)

will explain why, with

much lulz.

Heart Throb

Evangelion 1.11:

You Are [Not] Alone

This spit-and-polish of one of anime’s most

enduring franchises is not only gorgeous to

look at, but condenses much of the story into

a tight little feature-length production. Still

expect much angst and wailing.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

A series that delivers on just about every

front, FMA:B is sure to elicit laughs, tears and

adrenalin in the beautiful and action-packed

story of brotherly love.

K-On!

Don’t expect the same sort of action and

adventure in the series, which instead delivers

a heartfelt look at a group of high school

friends and their hard fought struggle to take

the stage at Budokan.

Cowboy Bebop

An absolute classic which really needs no

introduction, Bebop melds action, adventure,

comedy and drama into a wonderfully

animated, bounty hunting romp, backed by one

of the best soundtracks in all of anime.

My Neighbour Totoro

Ghibli fans love Totoro. Berserk fans love

Totoro. Everyone loves Totoro! The eponymous

Ghibli character grunts and howls his way into

our hearts in this magical, timeless classic.
