Joan Margarit i Consarnau (b. Sanaüja
(Segarra), Spain, 1938) isapoet andarchitect
of structural engineering. Since 1968 he has
been a professor at the Barcelona School
of Architecture. He may be Spain’s most
widely acclaimed living poet, with many
prizes including the National Critics Award
of Spain two times, and the 2008 National
Prize for Poetry. Poet Sharon Olds hears in
