Ge and hyundai heavy industries
collaborate to build Kuwait’s largest
combined-cycle Plant
Kuwait is experiencing tremendous economic
and social development, and is one of the
world’s highest per capita consumers of
power. To help meet the soaring demand for
electricity, GE and Hyundai Heavy Industries
teamed up to build Kuwait’s largest combined-
cycle power plant, which is also one of the
largest in the gulf region. The 2,000-MW power
plant features three combined-cycle power
blocks–including six GE 9FA gas turbines with
the latest emission-reducing technology. GE will
operate and maintain the plant for seven years
following startup, and GE teams are on site to
train employees of the Ministry of Electricity
and Water to operate the plant efficiently and in
accordance with industry best practices.
