It’s been a long winter, and spring is struggling to take hold, but that did not stop our Elite
Brigade teams from working their hearts out to get our great club ready for the membership’s
enjoyment. We all owe them a debt of gratitude for their efforts!! They serve to remind us that
hard work, and sweat equity is the DNA that NCYC was founded on and stills lives in us
today. For Sandi and I, participating while seeing old friends and new faces at the Island is
very refreshing and energizing.
There are 2 work parties, May 9th and May 16th, please attend one or both of them. The
finrunner will be leaving the dock at 9:00 AM on these Saturdays rain or shine. We need all of
you hearty souls to come out and do the fun work of readying the club for opening weekend. It
really makes you feel good to see that your contributions helped make the club shine
that opening weekend!
As with all of this, I hope to get enough free time to get my boat ready to put in the water as
well.
Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner and is a special time at the club. The
General Membership meeting on Saturday, May 23rd, where we welcome all of our new
members to the club, Fitting Out Party, and the Ceremonial Flag Raising are just some of the
highlights for the weekend.
Our first party weekend is traditionally a time where there are many members competing for
space to dock their vessels. There is no way that we can anticipate how crowded we will be
for this weekend. We recognize that there is a high demand for dockage in the East
Harbor. Space is at a premium and rafting of boats is always a potential, I have done it
myself.
