DAY 1
Arriving in
Maidenhead
, we check into the Holiday Inn
Hotel, our base for the duration of the tour. Relax this
afternoon in the hotel’s leisure facilities ahead of dinner
this evening in the hotel restaurant. (D)
DAY 2
We travel by train to
Windsor
for a day exploring this
Royal Borough. We visit the Queen’s weekend home,
Windsor Castle
, the oldest and largest inhabited
castle in the world. An audio guide takes us through
the Castles main sights and, if open, we can visit St
George’s Chapel. This afternoon we take to the water
as we enjoy a leisurely
cruise along the Thames
, taking
in fantastic views of Windsor Castle and the nearby
Eton College. (B,D)
DAY 3
After breakfast, a private transfer takes us to the
Brooklands Museum
. Brooklands was the world’s
first purpose-built motor racing circuit, constructed
in 1907 and was the birthplace of British motorsport

DAY 4
This morning, we head to the historic university city
of
Oxford
where there is free time to explore this
medieval city. Nicknamed the ‘City of Dreaming
Spires’, you may wish to head to New College Lane
for an iconic view under the Bridge of Sighs or to the
world-famous Ashmolean Museum with its collections
of art and archaeology. This afternoon, our private
transfer takes us to the
Chinnor & Princes Risborough
Railway
for a return steam journey. We tuck into a
Ploughmans lunch
as the train takes us along the base
of Bledlow Ridge. (B,L,D)
DAY 5
We bid farewell to Maidenhead and make our way
home. (B)
