Meters

are

available

for

both

Type

K and Type J

thermocouples.

lt

is

important

to

note that

the

Ml0-K,

M1O-J,

and the

Ml1-J

meters

have

a external

resistance

of

10

Ohms. ln order to

maintain

the accuracy

of

the

readings,

the total

resistance of the

thermocouple and

extension

wires combined

must be equal

to

10

Ohms.

The

Ml

unit has

1

Ohm

external

resistance. This

requires the total resistance

of

the thermocouple and extension wires combined to be equal

to

1

Ohm.

The

Ml

meter

is normally used

in

our

portable molten metal handle assembly, but

they

may be used in situations

where

long extension

wires

are not

required. The

M10

and

M11

type

instruments

are usually

used in

situations where

longer extension

wires are

needed.
